Following the recent announcement from the government on the new lockdown rules for England, (Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland existing rules have not been affected) it is our understanding that all UK Garages (but not car showrooms) and MOT sites will be allowed and encouraged to remain open during this period and should operate as normal with the already normal requirements for social distancing. The DVSA have advised that they do NOT intend to exempt any MOT’s or give any date extensions to current due dates, they will also expect all MOT equipment to be maintained and calibrated as per normal operation processes. The DVSA have recently confirmed this directly to all MOT stations. The grace period given during the last lockdown will not be repeated this time, therefore all equipment calibrations and the connecting of equipment to MTS must continue to take place.
