Jul 28, 2023

The Mercedes A45 AMG is one of the most sought-after vehicles on the market due to its phenomenal performance, high-end technology, and it’s incredibly bold style. It holds its noble place as one of the most renowned hyper hatches on the market and is the pinnacle of the A-Class range for good reason. It is a relatively young vehicle within Mercedes’ range only first being produced eight years ago in 2015. Since then it has taken the market by storm. Prices start from around £60,000 so getting your hands on this vehicle can be difficult. The vehicle rivals the likes of the Audi RS3, BMW M135i, and potentially even the Golf R. This compact performance car promises to deliver a perfect blend of power, style, and cutting-edge technology, setting new standards for the hot hatch segment. In this blog, we will dive into the features that make the 2023 Mercedes A45 S AMG an exhilarating driving experience.

Engines and Equipment

The 2023 Mercedes A 45 S AMG boasts a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with an astounding 415 bhp and 500 nm of torque incorporated with an automatic speedshift DCT 8-speed gearbox, making it one of the most complete Mercedes vehicles of all time. It is sometimes thought that the vehicle is not worth its price tag, but we can assure you it most certainly is. This amount of power allows the vehicle to achieve 0-62mph in just under 4 seconds and a top speed of 168mph – which will likely be electronically limited to 150mph on UK roads. The power is efficiently transmitted to all four wheels via the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system, ensuring maximum traction and handling, even in challenging driving conditions.

Interior

Step inside the A45 S AMG, and you’ll be greeted by a cabin that perfectly balances sportiness and luxury. High-quality materials, including premium leather and carbon fiber trim. The AMG performance seats provide excellent lateral support, ensuring a comfortable and engaging driving experience even during spirited drives.

The advanced MBUX infotainment system takes center stage on the dashboard, offering easy controls and seamless integration with various smartphones. Like most modern vehicles, the infotainment offers both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allowing the user to easily monitor their calls, access maps and play music straight from their device.

Vehicle Design

The 2023 A45 S AMG exudes both elegance and sophistication with its aerodynamically optimized design. The front grille proudly displays the iconic AMG badge, while also boasting large air intakes and a sporty front splitter further highlighting the vehicle’s performance-oriented nature. The rear of the vehicle sports a roof spoiler and an aggressive diffuser which holds the purpose of managing airflow. In turn, this enhances stability at high speeds and further epitomizes the vehicle’s AMG identity.

What is the difference between the Mercedes A35 and A45?

Both the Mercedes A45 and A35 are highly regarded as some of the most impressive hyper/hot hatches on the market, however upon looking they look exactly the same… You may be wondering to yourself what is the key difference between the two? Of course, the main difference you will notice is the powertrain in both vehicles and of course the price tag. The A45 produces around 100bhp more than its little brother the A35. The Mercedes A35 is slightly less powerful and offers slightly slower acceleration compared to the A45. The Mercedes A45, on the other hand, is a top-tier performance model in the A-Class range, delivering exceptional power and acceleration. It’s capable of achieving impressive 0 to 60 mph times and is often considered one of the most powerful hatchbacks on the market.

Mercedes A45 S AMG Rivals

Audi RS3 Sportback

The Audi RS3 Sportback is in our opinion the closest competitor to the Mercedes A45 S AMG in terms of both performance and its price mark costing between £54000-£63000. The RS3 is a deeply impressive vehicle and has been at the forefront of the hyper hatch market for many years. Similar to the A45, the RS3 has a BHP of around 400 however its engine is slightly larger being a 2.5L five-cylinder engine. It’s very difficult to call a winner between the two vehicles as it’s undeniable that both are incredibly beautiful and are ferociously fast.

BMW M140i

The BMW M140i is one of BMW’s most renowned vehicles and was first produced in 2015, the same year as the A45. The M140i is both cheaper and has a smaller powertrain than the A45. Some drivers prefer the M140i due to its comparatively large engine for its class. The vehicle stores a 3.0L six-cylinder engine which achieves 340BHP sitting just above the Mercedes A35.
